Updates from Population Foundation of India
Population Foundation of India team at the Programme Review Meeting, held in July, in New Delhi
Population Foundation of India is pleased to share a few glimpses of our efforts in advancing gender-
sensitive policies and programmes focused on the health and well-being of India’s population.
Population Foundation of India receives
recognition for its work in Bihar
[April, 2024] Population Foundation of India was
honoured as the Best Development Partner for
family planning for the year 2023-24 in both
Nawada and Darbhanda districts. Through its
technical support to the District Health Society, the
organisation has made significant contribution to
family planning services in the region.

Population & Development in New York
[May, 2024] Population Foundation of India was chosen
to represent civil society organisations at the 57th
session of the Commission on Population and
Development (CPD57) held in New York. In her
statement, our Executive Director, Poonam Muttreja,
highlighted a four-pronged approach to tackiling global
challenges—investing in youth education and
healthcare; empowering women to promote gender
equality; supporting active and healthy aging; and
strengthening democracies through inclusive
governance.
Convening a Panel At the International
Parliamentarians’ conference in Oslo
[April, 2024] Dr. Sanghamitra Singh, Chief of
Programmes, represented Population Foundation
of India at the 8th International Parliamentarians'
Conference on the Implementation of the
International Conference on Population and
Development Programme of Action (IPCI/ICPD)
held in Oslo, Norway. Dr. Singh led a roundtable
discussion with global parliamentarians, which
aimed to address the pressing issues and
challenges related to family planning.

Workshop held in

On-Ground Initiatives in UP: Combating Child Marriage and
Transforming Family Planning Services
[January, 2024] To combat child
marriage and promote empowerment of
girls through education and developing
vocation skills, we launched a campaign
in January 2024, called “Itni Bhi Kya Jaldi
Hai?’’ Through this campaign, we
engaged with 5,000+ people including
adolescents, youth, health workers,
community champions and government
officials across 118 villages in Jarwal
block, Bahraich district in Uttar Pradesh.
[July, 2024] In partnership with Mobius
Foundation, we launched the first Family
Planning Counselling Corner at the
Community Health Centre, Auras in
Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. This is the first of
400 Family Planning Counselling Corners
we plan to launch across seven districts
of Uttar Pradesh.

Workshops
[June & August, 2024] We
organised orientation
workshops in Hazaribag
and Ranchi, Jharkhand on
digital advocacy for
adolescent health (DAAH).
Attended by 100 young
individuals, the workshops
delved into crucial topics
related to adolescent
reproductive health and
digital strategic
engagement techniques
aiming to enhance
awareness and outreach in
these areas.

organised two-day
workshops in Patna and
Lucknow for over 40
grassroots civil society
organisations, orienting
them on our Strategic
Engagement Handbook, a
comprehensive guide for
effective stakeholder
engagement in family
planning.

[June, 2024] We conducted
a state level review and
planning workshop at IIT
Patna for Sehat Kendras—
a one-stop centre for
primary health need of
young people designed by
us for colleges in Bihar.
The workshop brought
together Nodal Officers
and Peer Educators from
52 Sehat Kendra(s) across
Bihar.

a reach of over 5 million
